Bespoke training events at ESA
Example: TransFIRe hub
TransFIRe is a UKRI funded Research Hub at Cranfield University, with 12 research organisations in the UK and more than 70 project partners from across the foundation industries, covering Chemicals, Metals, Glass, Cement, Paper, Ceramics, and trade associations, professional membership bodies, civic sector and government organisations.
Their objective is to drive sustainability improvement in the foundation industries through research.
When the Principal Investigators were looking for a venue to host their bespoke training and research workshop, for 20 Post Doctoral Researchers, which was aligned with the values and objectives of the TransFIRe project, they chose ESA in Crete.
ESA and TransFIRe co-designed a 1 week programme.
The agenda consisted of learning and research skills development sessions.
Unique learning environments
Offsite technical visits and sharing research with academics at local Universities.
Informational and fun recreational activities
Unforgettable evening experiences including starwatching with ESA astronomer Christos Sotiropoulou or olive oil tasting and wine pairing with ESA Sommelier Stella Diomandaraki.
Always accompanied by delicious, locally sourced, low packaging, Cretan catering with local, organic fine wines from award winning Dourakis ‘green winery’.
